BIO

Ilke Cop (BE, 1988) is a contemporary artist who lives and works in Brussels, Belgium. Educated as an art historian, she is a member of the womxn’s makers collective Hyster-x. In recent years she developed a striking and diverse art practice encompassing painting, installation and sculpture.

Cop recently made an interesting contribution to the Biennale of Painting (2024) in Museum Mudel, Deinze (BE), The Crystal Ship Festival (2024), Ostend (BE), Sint-Denijs-City (2023 & 2025), Sint-Denijs (BE ), Search Party (2023) curated by Ben Edmunds at Galerie Tatjana Pieters, Ghent (BE), Kunstenfestival Watou (2022 & 2025), Poperinge (BE), PASS (2021) curated by Jan Hoet Jr. & Kris Martin in the church of Wannegem (BE).

She is the co-curator of the new Literary Art Route Lo-Reninge with her twin sister and writer Uschi Cop.

 

In 2024 she was awarded the Gaver Prize, a biyearly prize for upcoming Belgian painters. Since 2025 she has shown with New York based galleries Jane Lombard ( Independent NY 2025) and Uffner & Liu (Fool's Privilege 2026).

Her work is part of private collections in Europe and the US.
